 Hello! I am Mistys Mum & I have been a crafter for many many years now.

I started years ago, when there wasn't much around in the paper-crafting arena, so along with a friend the cards we made used anything we had to hand. Items such as little knitted baby bootees (created on cocktail stick with thin wool); Sequin waste to create champagne glasses for special occasions; fabric flowers & buttons for birthday cards, & many other things.

Then I discovered rubber stamping & this became my main craft for the next 25+ years.

The interest in rubber stamping led me to meeting like minded people & starting clubs. I also became a demonstrator at retail outlets for stamp manufacturers.  Which was really exciting & I loved every minute of it.

Along with the clubs came the blogging. I had 3 clubs here in North Wales where I live & it gave the 3 clubs the chance to see the work that each one was creating & being able to share.

But, I rush ahead because I started as a young girl knitting for myself, crocheting baby clothes for friends having babies.  Embroidery mainly tray cloths etc for my mother & cross stitch. I have dabbled in silk painting, glass painting, Pergamano (parchment craft), cake making & decorating.  Perhaps one day in a  post I will show you some photos of my earlier crafts.

Last year I stepped back from organising the stamp clubs I had but I have missed the blogging. So that is what has made me create one for my own work whatever it may be.  Including a new one I have discovered - Sanntangling (a form of Zentangling) which I will explain when I show you some of my work.

I promise the day to day posts will not be quite so long as this introduction post.

A club challenge card

Hello everyone - isn't it hard to believe we are now into September?  My! this year is rushing by. Today I have a photo of a card I made last week for a challenge at one of my clubs.  The theme was the "Passing of Summer".  Quite a challenge! To help me when I was thinking of the design, we had a beautiful late summer sunset one evening - so that gave me the colours.  Then I turned to Google, as you do, & searched for images & quotes to do with the ending of summer.  The images gave me an idea of the stamps to use, but I also found a really lovely quote.  So, here is the card; I am not the best at colouring & creating things like sky, but I am quite pleased with this. I used Distress Inks diluted with water & then brushed gently across the card. The trees, which are one stamp,  were basically for an autumn image so had bare branches. The set that they came from also had a cluster of leaves stamp, so I used that in 2 shades of green across the branches.  Th

Blog challenge times two

Hi everyone.  Today I decided to enter another blog challenge - which I haven't done for a little while. Whilst looking to see which one I would try I noticed that I could probably do two with one design. It meant pretending something wasn't what you would think it was but I thought I would give it a try.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say. The two blogs are Perfectly CAS and Addicted to CAS The challenge at Perfectly CAS was a card with Flowers, & the challenge at Addicted to CAS was a card with Hearts. The thought that came into my mind was that flower petals can be heart shaped - so there it was - my idea for these challenges. Here is the card; Each flower is made from 5 small hearts cut from pale pink paper. I added extra shading with some pink ink that was a little darker, plus I over-stamped the completed flowers with a "dotty" stamp for texture. blog challenge - sketch

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you survived yesterdays storm Eunice without too much stress & damage. The card I have today is another sketch challenge, this time from the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. I enjoy creating from sketches as the design has been thought out for me, which leaves me the time to decide how & with what to decorate the card. I always find them very helpful when my mojo is a little bit lacking. Here is the sketch; TMS 644 and here is my card The background paper & the focal image are all from Hunkydory & the sentiment  is a Julie Hickey design. I have had these sheets for some time & the sketch challenges are giving me the opportunity to use them. I have decided this little card will now go to a friend who is having sight problems & doesn't think she will be able to do much card making because of it.  She is also part of a stamping group I am with & has decided to leave us due to this.
