A birthday card

 Hello again.

Today, I have the second of my recent makes to show you. This time the card was for my brothers birthday. Even after all these years of making my own cards I still find it difficult to make cards for men.

Usually a card can be made around the interests of the person the card is for.  My brother is one of those people who has interests - for example he loves his motorbike - but he is awkward & doesn't particularly like them on cards when he actually has one to ride. So, I had a long session on Google searching for quick & easy cards for men.  Pinterest had lots too.

Anyway, here is what I finally made. not sure I was inspired with all the searching I had done, everything was just in my craft room -- 

  
The "Happy Birthday" embossing folder is very useful & can be used in many different ways. The thing is that now I have to remember who I  have used it for so that I don't repeat myself. 😀

Last year, in an online session with some stamping colleagues, I was introduced to circles.  I think they are called "living circles"! I really enjoy using them & generally add some lines & dots in/on them. This time I kept it simple, & am pleased with the result.

Whilst I seem to have got this creative streak back I must make a start on my Christmas cards.  I do have several already made, but I send out a lot of cards.  So, better get started.

A club challenge card

Hello everyone - isn't it hard to believe we are now into September?  My! this year is rushing by. Today I have a photo of a card I made last week for a challenge at one of my clubs.  The theme was the "Passing of Summer".  Quite a challenge! To help me when I was thinking of the design, we had a beautiful late summer sunset one evening - so that gave me the colours.  Then I turned to Google, as you do, & searched for images & quotes to do with the ending of summer.  The images gave me an idea of the stamps to use, but I also found a really lovely quote.  So, here is the card; I am not the best at colouring & creating things like sky, but I am quite pleased with this. I used Distress Inks diluted with water & then brushed gently across the card. The trees, which are one stamp,  were basically for an autumn image so had bare branches. The set that they came from also had a cluster of leaves stamp, so I used that in 2 shades of green across the branches.  Th

Blog challenge times two

Hi everyone.  Today I decided to enter another blog challenge - which I haven't done for a little while. Whilst looking to see which one I would try I noticed that I could probably do two with one design. It meant pretending something wasn't what you would think it was but I thought I would give it a try.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say. The two blogs are Perfectly CAS and Addicted to CAS The challenge at Perfectly CAS was a card with Flowers, & the challenge at Addicted to CAS was a card with Hearts. The thought that came into my mind was that flower petals can be heart shaped - so there it was - my idea for these challenges. Here is the card; Each flower is made from 5 small hearts cut from pale pink paper. I added extra shading with some pink ink that was a little darker, plus I over-stamped the completed flowers with a "dotty" stamp for texture. The leaves were the same heart die, shaded with a slightly darker green ink.  The Happy Birthday is a

blog challenge - sketch

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you survived yesterdays storm Eunice without too much stress & damage. The card I have today is another sketch challenge, this time from the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. I enjoy creating from sketches as the design has been thought out for me, which leaves me the time to decide how & with what to decorate the card. I always find them very helpful when my mojo is a little bit lacking. Here is the sketch; TMS 644 and here is my card The background paper & the focal image are all from Hunkydory & the sentiment  is a Julie Hickey design. I have had these sheets for some time & the sketch challenges are giving me the opportunity to use them. I have decided this little card will now go to a friend who is having sight problems & doesn't think she will be able to do much card making because of it.  She is also part of a stamping group I am with & has decided to leave us due to this.
