AALL & Create Iris

The stamps that AALL&Create produce are mostly outside my particular interest, but they are very clever.  I do have a couple & today I decided it was time I started using them.

For my first attempt I used the Iris.


I started by putting 2 different colours of Distress Inks on my mat & spritzing them with water & finally dipping the card in the resulting ink.  I haven't done this technique for ages & was worried it would just be a mess, but no, it looks quite good.  Next I stamped the image in archival black ink & coloured in with felt pens.  After adding the word "Iris" I used a black fine-liner pen to add some little triple dot groups randomly around the card.  When placing it over the white base card it looked a little strange so I ran a fine pen around the 3 edges to create a faux layer before adhering it to the card.

I am rather pleased with the outcome & think I will try it again & be a little more adventurous in what I do with it.  Then it will be time to try out the other stamp I have of theirs.

Blog challenge times two

Hi everyone.  Today I decided to enter another blog challenge - which I haven't done for a little while. Whilst looking to see which one I would try I noticed that I could probably do two with one design. It meant pretending something wasn't what you would think it was but I thought I would give it a try.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say. The two blogs are Perfectly CAS and Addicted to CAS The challenge at Perfectly CAS was a card with Flowers, & the challenge at Addicted to CAS was a card with Hearts. The thought that came into my mind was that flower petals can be heart shaped - so there it was - my idea for these challenges. Here is the card; Each flower is made from 5 small hearts cut from pale pink paper. I added extra shading with some pink ink that was a little darker, plus I over-stamped the completed flowers with a "dotty" stamp for texture. A club challenge card

Hello everyone - isn't it hard to believe we are now into September?  My! this year is rushing by. Today I have a photo of a card I made last week for a challenge at one of my clubs.  The theme was the "Passing of Summer".  Quite a challenge! To help me when I was thinking of the design, we had a beautiful late summer sunset one evening - so that gave me the colours.  Then I turned to Google, as you do, & searched for images & quotes to do with the ending of summer.  The images gave me an idea of the stamps to use, but I also found a really lovely quote.  So, here is the card; I am not the best at colouring & creating things like sky, but I am quite pleased with this. I used Distress Inks diluted with water & then brushed gently across the card. The trees, which are one stamp,  were basically for an autumn image so had bare branches. The set that they came from also had a cluster of leaves stamp, so I used that in 2 shades of green across the branches.  Th

blog challenge - sketch

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you survived yesterdays storm Eunice without too much stress & damage. The card I have today is another sketch challenge, this time from the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. I enjoy creating from sketches as the design has been thought out for me, which leaves me the time to decide how & with what to decorate the card. I always find them very helpful when my mojo is a little bit lacking. Here is the sketch; TMS 644 and here is my card The background paper & the focal image are all from Hunkydory & the sentiment  is a Julie Hickey design. I have had these sheets for some time & the sketch challenges are giving me the opportunity to use them. I have decided this little card will now go to a friend who is having sight problems & doesn't think she will be able to do much card making because of it.  She is also part of a stamping group I am with & has decided to leave us due to this.
